The Ardley Salver falls Victim to the Weather29/11/2010

For the second time in three years it has proved impossible to play the Ardley Salver due to extreme weather closing the Links.  Although it was played last year and won by Andrew Whyte, it was cancelled in 2008 due to a frozen course.

SALJGA unable to make it three in a row against Scotscraig08/11/2010

SALJGA failed in their bid to win the Robertson-Philp Trophy for three years in a row losing this year’s competition against Scotscraig 6 ½ to 1 ½ .

The victorious coaches of Uppingham School savour a hard fought win over SALJGA after two matches on consecutive days.  The first match on the New Course was halved but Uppingham won the second match 3 to 1 on the Eden.

SALJGA suffered a 4-0 defeat to Scotscraig in the first leg of the annual match between both teams of juniors. The event was held at Scotscraig on Sunday.

The Balgove Junior Open proves extremely popular15/09/2010

The Balgove Junior Open had a maximum field of 27 entries and produced two boy’s winners, Callum and Scott Reid and 2 girl’s winners, Kelly Donaldson and Emma Rickman.

Luke Wiseman wins the closely fought Mini-Tour 2 Junior Open15/09/2010

Luke Wiseman won a closely fought competition to claim the Mini-Tour 2 Junior Open title from Taylor Jones by a single point.  Kirsty Graham won the girls’ event and Lauren Goadby was awarded the Girls' Mini-Tour 1 title. Both competitions were played as stableford events on the Strathtyrum last Sunday.

Ross Proudfoot wins the Mini-tour 1 Boys' Junior Open15/09/2010

Ross Proudfoot claimed the Mini-tour 1 Boys’ Junior Open title after a two point win over Jonny Regan who was second after a count-back with Christopher Fleming who ended up third. The event was played on the Eden in similarly windy conditions to the Challenge Tour event.

Iain Watson wins the Challenge Tour Junior Open15/09/2010

Iain Watson won the CH Junior Open, the final Challenge Tour competition of the season, after a season long abscense from competitions. Michael Clark finished two points of the lead.

Ruairidh Robertson wins the Room Medal at a Canter.07/09/2010

Ben Kinsley won the Challenge Tour Strokeplay event for the second year running with an excellent four round total of 295 which gave him a comfortable margin over runner-up Ruairidh Robertson.

Matthew McAnaw won Friday’s Mini-tour 2 Ronaldson Trophy which was played on the Strathtyrum Course on another ideal day for golf.

Sam Heggie and Lauren Goadby are the Min-tour Champions09/08/2010

The two round Mini-tour Strokeplay competition was completed last week with Sam Heggie and Lauren Goadby claiming the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively.  Both rounds were played on the Strathtyrum Course in ideal conditions.

SALJGA boys selected for Scotland04/08/2010

SALJGA members Ewan Scott (15) and Ian Redford (17) have been selected to represent Scotland in this week’s Boys’ Home International Tournament being played at Southerness Golf Club in Dumfries and Galloway.  The annual event for The R&A Trophy is contested by players aged 18 or under from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

SALJGA Volunteer Coaching finishes for another Year14/07/2010

The ten week programme of coaching for SALJGA members aged between 6 and 11 concluded at the end of last month with a Texas Scramble competition played on the Balgove.  The one hour coaching sessions were conducted by volunteers who have all qualified as PGA Level 1 coaches with the entire programme being overseen by PGA teaching professionals. 

Jim Furyk presents Cup to Wentworth Juniors14/07/2010

Professional golfer Jim Furyk, who will be playing in the Open Championship this week, presented the winners’ trophy after the annual fixture between SALJGA and Wentworth juniors which was played on The Castle Course on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July.  Although Wentworth took the honours 3 points to 1, the result was in doubt until the final hole with Michael Clark and Blair Morrison needing to win the last to halve the match.

Cameron Campbell and Chloe Goadby are the Mini-tour Matchplay Champions07/07/2010

The Boys' and Girls' Matchplay competition resulted in wins for Cameron Cambell and Chloe Goadby.  The competitions were open to all SALJGA members with handicaps ranging from 13-36 and were held during the week beginning 21 June with all rounds being played on the Eden.

Iain Ronaldson takes early lead in Order of Merit25/05/2010

Iain Ronaldson won the McGregor Trophy, which was played over the Jubilee Course on Sunday 23 May, giving him an an early lead in the 2010 Order of Merit or 'Race for the Eden'. Iain won the event with a 7 stroke advantage over runner-up Blair Morrison and also acheived the lowest gross score.

Amateur success for former SALJGA member24/05/2010

Greg Paterson, former SALJGA member, narrowly missed out on winning his first amateur title in the Welsh Open Strokeplay Championship at Royal St David's. Greg led the championship by the halfway stage but lost his six-stroke advantage in the final round to finish third.

Hot Chocolate girls take over the Strathtyrum14/05/2010

After the success of last year’s Hot Chocolate Scramble the fixture was repeated and managed to break all records for the number of entries.  A total of 18 girls took part in the competition which was conducted as a Texas Scramble over nine holes of the Strathtyrum on Sunday 9 May. 

First competitions of the season13/05/2010

SALJGA competitions got underway on 3 May with the Flanagan Trophy and Kelly Trophy being played over the Strathtyrum. The Flanagan Trophy was won by Jonathon Regan and Alexandra Tait and The Kelly Trophy was won by Fraser Brown.

The annual nine hole match against Cupar Golf Club juniors was played on 5 May on the Balgove Course. 

Euan Graham wins Renwick Trophy30/03/2010

Euan Graham won the first SALJGA competition of 2010. The Renwick Trophy was played over as a stableford competition over the New Course on 28 March. Zak Bedford was runner up scoring three points behind Euan’s finishing score of 37 points.
