Jonny Regan and Matthew McAnaw won their first trophies of the season when they won the Mini-Tour Pairs competition which was played over the Strathtyrum on Wednesday 22 July.
Nine pairs turned out for stableford competition which witnessed some excellent scoring. Last year’s winners Alan Whitelock and Rory Henretty defended their title with a creditable 40 points.
Alasdair McDougall, playing in his final Mini-Tour event before graduating full-time to the Challenge Tour, and Ewan Anderson thought they had done enough to secure the title with an excellent 44 points. However, Jonny and Matthew destroyed the field with an outstanding 48 points; they played the inward nine in one over par gross, both of them playing out of their skins.
Nick Randerson, Junior Golf Co-ordinator, commented, "Congratulations to all the competitors but no-one could touch Jonny and Matthew on the day and they ran out worthy winners."
