The Wilson Trophy marked the start of the regular SALJGA competition season on Sunday and it was very pleasing to see a full field undaunted by the blustery conditions in the New Course.
Ben Kinsley posted an impressive gross 79 and nett 71 to claim the first of the season’s trophies by 2 shots.
Lauren Whyte, in her first season on the Challenge Tour, was second with a nett 73 along with Cammie Joy who was heading for an outstanding round after going out in 36. However, Cammie was eventually beaten down by the wind and his triple bogey on the 17th put paid to his chances.
Ewan Scott also posted an impressive gross 79 and claimed the lowest gross prize on count back. This competition also marks the start of the 2009 Order of Merit which reflects the gross scores of all qualifying rounds and means Ben and Ewan are making the early running.
