SALJGA visits Royal Aberdeen Golf Club28/10/2008

A SALJGA team captained by Alan Whitelock journeyed to Royal Aberdeen Golf Club on Sunday for their match against Paul Lawrie’s Golf Foundation.

Unfortunately, SALJGA were unable to maintain their unbeaten run this season and lost by the odd game in a close fought and very enjoyable match.

The tie was played over 9-holes with a shotgun start in excellent weather, which was in sharp contrast to the recent rain and gales.

On the SALJGA side were Alan Whitelock and Jon Price who lost 2 and 1, Blair Morrison and Euan Graham who won 2 and 1, Alasdair McDougall and Sam Heggie who lost by 2, Fraser Hayles and Murray Watson who won 5 and 4 and Ross Woods and Ryan Fenton who lost 2 and 1.

All the pairings played well but in the final analysis the number of strokes awarded to the opposition proved decisive.

Paul Lawrie was playing in the final round of the Castello Masters in Spain but his son Michael was on the opposing team and his wife was there to support.
