SALJGA Girls enjoy the Pink Ball Competition07/07/2010

Twelve girls organised into three teams of four played the pink ball competition on the Strathtyrum in very windy conditions on Sunday 27th June.

The teams were Spirit, comprising Emma Rickman, Beth Constance, Lucia Mackenzie and Emma Nicol; Queen of Clubs, with Isobel Olsen, Sam McInnes, Gillian Henderson and Kirstin MacCallum and Starburst comprising Amy Boxer, Caelan Laeseke, Romy Niven and Kym Stirling.

Many of the girls had not played on an 18 hole course before and this team competition provided an excellent opportunity to experience nine holes on the Strathtyrum.  Everyone played their own ball with two scores from each team counting on each hole.  The pink ball alternated through all team members and that score was recorded as was the best of the other three scores.

'
Liberal rules were allowed for balls in bunkers and deep rough and everyone had a great afternoon in sunny but windy weather' said Nick Randerson, Junior Golf Co-ordinator.  'My thanks go the parents who accompanied their children on the course without whose help it would not be possible to conduct these competitions for our younger members.  The main objective of this event was to help bridge the gap between playing golf on the Balgove and the Strathtyrum and to prove that both can be enjoyable.  In that regard the day was an undoubted success.'
