Ewan Scott won the 2012 Gold Data Lab Youths’ Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship which was contested over 4 rounds at Ladybank Golf Club; the final 72 holes being played on Sunday in gale force winds.

The first Balgove Medal was played on Wednesday in lovely conditions and provided the first qualifiers for the Balgove Finals which are scheduled for Wednesday 04th July.

Sam Heggie won the Division 1 Tait Salver, Jack Kerr won the Division 2 competition and Romy Niven claimed the girls’ prize after the 18 hole stableford competition played on the Strathtyrum course on Bank Holiday Monday.

Team SALJGA played an international team from St Leonards School on Sunday 29th April over the Strathtyrum course and won a convincing victory by 3½ points to ½.

The inaugural visit to SALJGA from Golf Club Zwolle in the Netherlands took place over the weekend and was extremely successful.  A 25 strong party of primarily children aged between 8 and 19 with handicaps as low as 4, took part in golf coaching with the St Andrews Links Academy instructors, golf on the Strathtyrum and Jubilee courses and greatly appreciated the unseasonably warm weather.

Kyle Ferguson won the first SALJGA competition of the year after a count-back with Lewis Hazel.  Both boys shot nett scores of 73 but Kyle was awarded the trophy by virtue of his superior inward nine.

What do you get when you a great drive is followed by an outstanding four iron on the par 5 eleventh hole of the Jubilee?  If Zack Bedford is playing the shots in a SALJGA match against the St Andrews University Golf Bursars, you get an albatross.

SALJGA members have been taking full advantage of the tremendous benefits offered to them by the St Andrews Links Trust in providing free balls to aid their practice by hitting 218,850 balls during 2011.

St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association (SALJGA) received a major boost today with the news that the R&A has pledged to continue its support with £75,000 of funding over the next five years.
