SALJGA Volunteer Coaching finishes for another Year14/07/2010

The ten week programme of coaching for SALJGA members aged between 6 and 11 concluded at the end of last month with a Texas Scramble competition played on the Balgove.  The one hour coaching sessions were conducted by volunteers who have all qualified as PGA Level 1 coaches with the entire programme being overseen by PGA teaching professionals. 

Jim Furyk presents Cup to Wentworth Juniors14/07/2010

Professional golfer Jim Furyk, who will be playing in the Open Championship this week, presented the winners’ trophy after the annual fixture between SALJGA and Wentworth juniors which was played on The Castle Course on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 July.  Although Wentworth took the honours 3 points to 1, the result was in doubt until the final hole with Michael Clark and Blair Morrison needing to win the last to halve the match.

Cameron Campbell and Chloe Goadby are the Mini-tour Matchplay Champions07/07/2010

The Boys' and Girls' Matchplay competition resulted in wins for Cameron Cambell and Chloe Goadby.  The competitions were open to all SALJGA members with handicaps ranging from 13-36 and were held during the week beginning 21 June with all rounds being played on the Eden.

SALJGA Girls enjoy the Pink Ball Competition07/07/2010

Twelve girls organised into three teams of four played the pink ball competition on the Strathtyrum in very windy conditions on Sunday 27th June.

Ewan Scott confirms his Matchplay credentials07/07/2010

Ewan Scott beat Iain Ronaldson in the Matchplay Quaich which was played on the New Course on Friday 2 July in brutal wind conditions.The SALJGA Challenge Tour event is played as a scratch competition over four rounds. 

Ruairidh Robertson claims the Matheson Trophy23/06/2010

Ruairidh Robertson won the Challenge Tour Matheson Trophy by two shots from Michael Clark. The competition was played on the Eden Course on Sunday in glorious summer weather.

Iain Ronaldson takes early lead in Order of Merit25/05/2010

Iain Ronaldson won the McGregor Trophy, which was played over the Jubilee Course on Sunday 23 May, giving him an an early lead in the 2010 Order of Merit or 'Race for the Eden'. Iain won the event with a 7 stroke advantage over runner-up Blair Morrison and also acheived the lowest gross score.

Amateur success for former SALJGA member24/05/2010

Greg Paterson, former SALJGA member, narrowly missed out on winning his first amateur title in the Welsh Open Strokeplay Championship at Royal St David's. Greg led the championship by the halfway stage but lost his six-stroke advantage in the final round to finish third.

Hot Chocolate girls take over the Strathtyrum14/05/2010

After the success of last year’s Hot Chocolate Scramble the fixture was repeated and managed to break all records for the number of entries.  A total of 18 girls took part in the competition which was conducted as a Texas Scramble over nine holes of the Strathtyrum on Sunday 9 May. 

First competitions of the season13/05/2010

SALJGA competitions got underway on 3 May with the Flanagan Trophy and Kelly Trophy being played over the Strathtyrum. The Flanagan Trophy was won by Jonathon Regan and Alexandra Tait and The Kelly Trophy was won by Fraser Brown.

SALJGA host Cupar Juniors on the Balgove13/05/2010

The annual nine hole match against Cupar Golf Club juniors was played on 5 May on the Balgove Course. 

Euan Graham wins Renwick Trophy30/03/2010

Euan Graham won the first SALJGA competition of 2010. The Renwick Trophy was played over as a stableford competition over the New Course on 28 March. Zak Bedford was runner up scoring three points behind Euan’s finishing score of 37 points.
